Koh PhanganKoh Phangan or Pha-Ngan is located in Suratthani Provence in the Southern Gulf of Thailand and is part of the group of islands that make up the Samui Archipelago; a group of over 40 islands, including Koh Samui and Koh Tao.

Thailand's fifth biggest island, with an area of 167km², and 90% of that is un-spoilt tropical forest! Due to its granite structure, there are a few small mountains where you can trek to waterfalls and even camp.

Koh Phangan is about 70km from the mainland and approx. 12km from Samui, so it is an easy hub for Koh Phangan as there is an airport there.

Koh Phangan is regarded as a spiritual place for the Thai people.  Four Kings of Thailand have visited this pristine wilderness; with the Great Rama V coming over 10 times, leaving his royal seal engraved on a rock at Thaan Sadet Waterfall; and the current King Bhumibol following in his footsteps.

Until about 600 years ago, the island was mostly uninhabited, then when passing monks realized its tranquility and spiritual importance, they chose to settle in Wat Phu Khao Noi just outside Thongsala.

Koh PhanganThe coastline around Koh Phangan is connected by small coves and long stretching white sandy beaches, each one a picture of paradise! Enjoy kayaking, wake boarding, kite boarding, wind surfing, sailing and many other fun water sports.

The abundance of wildlife, and the tranquility of the jungle allows you to see nature up close, from monkeys to birds of paradise!

If you enjoy diving and snorkeling, you'll love it here! The amazing underwater world that surrounds Koh Phangan has over 10kms of vibrant coral and more than 20 local dive sites.

And if you have any energy after a hard day of playing, there is the nightlife that the island has become internationally famous for. The globally renowned Full Moon Party and weekly outdoor events in the jungle and beach bars; not forgetting the daily sessions in Haad Rin, are sure to get your groove on! Full Moon Scedules are below, keep reading.

Koh Phangan Full Moon PartyHaad Rin is home to the Full Moon Party and also houses about 3-5000 rather mad people; it is the island's nightlife capital and has Koh Phangan's biggest concentration of beach clubs.

There are over 12 major sound systems running the length of Had Rin beach, catering for 8000 to 12,000 punters in low season, 15 - 20,000 in high season and up to 30,000 during the New Year.

Within this transient crowd of party animals some highly talented DJ's pass through, banging out their wares to the raging lunar explorers that have landed on planet party.
